Last weekend we went to an aviation display with my grandparents. It was really nice to see all the old aircraft and aviation history. Especially because my grandpa could tell us so much extra from his own experience.

War of the Worlds 30th Anniversary

Guillaume's never been into concerts. But there's one composer he absolutely loves: Jeff Wayne and his Musical Version of War of the Worlds. Guillaume even performed one of the songs at a high school recital. This year it's the 30th anniversary of the piece and Jeff Wayne is touring all over Europe. He also came to Amsterdam. So as an early birthday surprise I took Guillaume to see this Musical Version of War of the Worlds. He loved it!
It was a combination of a normal rock band and a orchestra with cello's and violins etcetera. All directed by Jeff Wayne. And on a large screen in the back there were short pieces of film to support the narrator.

Since not many people know what War of the Worlds is, here's some background info. War of the Worlds is a science fiction story written bij H.G. Wells in 1898. It's about Marsians invading earth and just as they seem to be winning the die from some kind of virus and mankind is saved (bear in mind that it's science fiction from the 19th century).
Two movies have been made of this story. The last one a couple of years ago, starring Tom Cruise.
In 1979 Jeff Wayne decided to compose a Musical Version of the story.

Check up

Yesterday I had another check up. The baby's doing fine. The heart beat is good and the baby is about 20 cm long.
They did a blood test and I have type A neg. This means that there potentially is a risk of the so called rhesus factor. I'll get a rhesus D antigen injection at 30 weeks of pregnancy just as a precaution and that should take away any risk.
Also I'm experiencing pain in my pelvis which can be annoying but well worth it considering the end result. In 4 weeks I'll get another ultra sound and then they'll be able to tell if it's a boy or girl!

4landenrit - 4 countries tour

Last weekend we had the annual '4 countries tour' with our car and motorcycle club. Needless to say it was great.

Great News

If you haven't already heard I apologize you have to find out through this blog. As most of you already know; we are expecting our first child!
We had the first diagnostic ultrasound and everything looked good. The heart is beating, all limbs are growing as they should and they confirmed it's not twins :)

Third week of our trip - Mission San Juan Capistrano

We had a tour of one of the missions of California; San Juan Capistrano. It's said to be one of the most beautiful missions. And in addition to being a great historic site and learning experience it's also still an active church! Some of the pictures didn't come out real good but they still give an impression of the site.

Third week of our trip - Tourist attractions

It's been a while since I've posted anything. Things have been kind of crazy coming back home and getting straight back to work and normal everyday life. I came across some more pictures of our stay in California. We decided to do some touristy stuff so we went to see Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. Our cousins Steffani and Andy joined us with their daughter Amberlin. It was great!


And to complete this wonderful day we had a really nice dinner at Lawry's, which is famous for it's prime rib.
