Party

This weekend we had a surprise birthday party for my aunt Marjon. The theme was USA. As a result almost everyone put on a cowboy hat. So that apparently is the way the Dutch typically view Americans :) Just kidding. It's probably the easiest outfit to come up with.

That is great!! We were so amused when we went to Disneyland Paris to see the European interpretation of America - it was the same way. Everyone was wearing cowboy hats and teaching their kids to say "Yee-haw!" We love it. :)

By the way - I like your new layout. Love you!

The first time Marie came to Texas, she was surprised to see that people actually wear cowboy hats in their daily life. She thought it was just to costume parties and for TV.

Thankfully, not too many wear them here in Austin.

Yeah, I'm sorry you guys get this interpretation a lot. People here of course know that most Americans aren't cowboys but hey, it IS a typical thing for a costume party.
There was one guy who approached it differently. He had sneakers, some special shirt with stars and stripes tucked in his pants and a big belly hanging over his pants. He kind of reminded me of Mr Clinton.

Ah well, everytime I speak to Americans they ask me about marihuana, windmills, wooden shoes, tulips and cheese. Oh yes, we are a bunch of marihuana smoking, tulip growing, cheese eating people working our windmills and walking on wooden shoes. Seriously... we are ;)
